2013 Phillies Report Card: Ezequiel Carrera

You can say this about quite a few of the players that donned Phillies pinstripes in 2013: they’ll be trivia in a game of “Name that Obscure Phillie”. Ezequiel Carrera will be right up there with Pete LaForest and Danny Tartabull. The Phillies picked up Carrera on waivers from the Indians in early April. He found his way into 13 games, taking 16 trips to the plate. He had one hit and one walk and nothing else.

Carrera was like an acquaintance, a guy whose name you forget five seconds after he leaves the room and you’ll never see him again. The 2013 Phillies.

I totally had this guy confused with Ender Inciarte. Did the Phillies really have Inciarte and Carerra on their roster at the same time?

No, Inciarte was given back to whatever team the Phillies picked him up from in the Rule 5 draft. Arizona maybe?

So, on opening day Inciarte was a member of the Phillies. The next day they waived him or whatever, to make room for Carrera.

I miss Ender. He had a good year down in AA for the DBacks.
