Ho-hum. Cliff Lee hit his second home run of the season, becoming the 14th Phillies pitcher to accomplish the feat and the first since Randy Wolf in 2004.

You can watch his home run here, but just as interesting as the homer was the celebration between Lee and Carlos Ruiz.

Ruiz in the dugout while Lee was trotting around the bases:

By the way, the full list of Phillies pitchers to hit two or more homers in a season since 1952 (via Baseball Reference):

Not only did Lee hit a HR, it ended up being the winning run too… Talk about helping yourself :)

Any chance we can get the .GIF of the Howard to Lee toss in the 1st inning? It was like he had the ball on a string there. It looked like there was a magnet in his hand.

Person’s ’02 homeruns were both in the same game– a grand slam and a 3-run homer. If I remember correctly, he came very close to hitting a second slam that day.

Mike B., you are correct. He missed another slam, pulling it foul.

I’ve always remembered Larry Christensen’s 2 HR game as a 2-0 complete game. Turns out it was actually a 3-1 win, and LC only pitched 8 1/3.

Still, a nice game for a guy I’ve always thought of as one of the ultimate hard-luck pitchers.

Anyone have the gif of Lee making it rain on his way into the dugout?
