At Baseball Daily Digest, I explain why Kevin Youkilis should be more accepting of Sabermetrics.

However, if any professional baseball player should be supporting the use of Sabermetrics, it’s Youkilis. These stats have done for him what skinny mirrors do for fat people. What the movie Superbad has done for nerds. What online file-sharing has done for underground musicians. I digress — you get the point. Stats have done that body good!

This is a very good point which I don’t think gets mentioned often enough to players such as Youkilis.

But this is a guy who has adopted a completely illogical and unnecessary batting routine, grip, and stance. He certainly strikes me as someone who just goes out and plays, and doesn’t worry about the how or why.

And what’s this deal about picking on heavy metal bass players? Shame on you…

I would say Youk looks more the part of Kerry King (minus the head tats) rather than Robert Trujillo.

yeah, I read those comments and was like, Youkilis…just…you should be happy they came up with those stats because otherwise you’d probably be out of baseball by now. Nailed it.
