Here's Zobrist's positional breakdown:

As for Mauer, he did have about a 3% increase in strikeouts from '08 to '09. Presumably, the reason why his average stayed high was because his BABIP was .377, a career high. He also had an uncanny 20% HR/FB rate, which is in the area of Adam Dunn, Russell Branyan, and Carlos Pena.

That is definately an outside the box vote. I completely forgot about Zobrist and the monster year he put up, not to mention, if I'm not mistaken, didnt he also play alot of time at the middle infield posistions? I think I would still give it to Mauer because he constantly seems to get no respect from the voters in the past. I do wonder where all this power seems to have come from for Mauer. Normally when a high average hitter starts hitting for power, it affects the average but that wasnt the case for Joe. Kind of weird. Maybe he had some kind of "other help". (I'm joking, although I'm surprised that type of article wasnt written.)
