I really like the idea of the two-inning save, however, there are two potential problems that have to be worked out:

1. What happens if Madson has a high-pitch count 8th inning, can he still go out for the 9th? If the answer is, "no we need to bring in Lidge" then I don't like it at all, save Madson for the 9th and let someone else do the 8th.

2. How many days in a row can Madson do 2-inning save? Again, I don't want to resort to Lidge again, so if he can't do it two days in a row, we have to figure something else out.

Let's see him adapt to this playoff rotation:

Happ
Lee
Blanton
Hamels

This would give all seven days rest

(Possibly move Blanton up to #2, if Lee unimpressive in next)

Isn't Happ the best to be pitching two games out of five?

Anyways, Lee before Hamels (contract renewal this winter, hopefully)

Maybe Lee in game 1 if very impressive in next, although I would prefer Happ. If Happ in game 2, however, he could also be available out of bullpen in game 5. Status of bullpen to focus of rest of season.
