It’s pretty much a wash. I’d rather have Hamels than Santana; Pelfrey’s ERA+ is high because his last few starts have been against bad teams; Maine and Perez walk way too many batters; and Pedro Martinez is a gust of wind away from forced retirement.

The teams’ sixth starters, so to speak, are J.A. Happ and Nelson Figueroa. I’d rather have Happ.
