Josh Hamilton Does Not Fuck with the Jesus

Major League Baseball’s legitimate triple crown threat — a former heroin addict — was advised by Jesus in a dream to fire his agent Matt Sosnick. Seeing as how Hamilton does not fuck with the Jesus, he followed instructions and dropped Sosnick.
The blog It Is About the Money, Stupid has been covering the story better than anyone. Make sure you keep up with it if you’re interested in more details concerning this issue. Sosnick even personally E-mailed, and later called Jason at IIATMS to thank him for the coverage and support, and talked about a potential interview with IIATMS in the future.
As to my thoughts on the issue, I don’t think I have enough snark in me to adequately talk about it, but man… people make some bonehead decisions based on their imaginary friends. Hamilton is a great story and all, but his decision to fire Sosnick has dropped his score on the likability scale a great deal, considering that Sosnick has been at Hamilton’s side for the whole ride. We often hear of the selfishness of sports agents, but if IIATMS has portrayed Sosnick accurately, he is clearly an exception to the rule.
Is Hamilton now boo-able? Someone was curious about it and asked Craig Calcaterra at ShysterBall. Craig made a lot of good points, but I’ll quote the most prudent point:
[...] let us remember that no matter how interesting the off-the-field business can be, it should be left behind when you go to the ballpark. The game still rules, and Hamilton is really, really good at this game. That doesn’t change, and he certainly remains an inspiring story regardless of this instance of his somewhat questionable interpersonal skills.
So, while I don’t at all respect his decision to follow advice from a voice in his head in a dream from a person who has never been proven to have existed, let’s not forget that the guy is hitting .321/.368/.598 with 19 HR and 74 RBI. Not that good baseball play justifies any unethical off-the-field behavior (and, after all, he wasn’t doing anything illegal *cough*adampacmanjones*cough*), but it is what the game is all about. Sosnick deserves your sympathy and Hamilton deserves some of your scorn, but don’t let it overshadow the amazing show he’s put on when he’s on the field.

As always, interesting perspective. What I wonder in regards to Hamilton, is why is a “comeback story” so much more heroic than others? I’m glad for anybody that makes a positive change in their life. But why is it that so much better than someone who made the big leagues and never fell into drugs or temptation in the first place?
I remember fans going crazy for Daryl Strawberry…no matter how many times he screwed up. Not that they should boo him…but damn!
Shouldn’t it be more heroic for someone to make a change before they hit rock bottom?

all i can say is if your are ignorant enough to believe that Jesus never existed then this does not give much creditability to your article. Even the most profound atheists new there was enough evidence to the fact that Jesus existed.

CavalryCougar, we wouldn’t want to use an ad hominem, now would we?
I provided a link in my article — here — that shows how fallible the “Jesus existed” claims and the so-called evidence for that claim are.
