Ernie, it's definitely Willie's fault that they traded Scott Kazmir away, right?

Moon, I find it interesting that most of the time in sports, the person/people responsible for failure are never held responsible. They always have a fall guy.

Shooter, if there's one thing that I am, it's clever. Or just a bad speller.

The Phillies overcame a 7-game deficit in 17 games. And, even though I love them, I have to admit that the Phillies are fallible and are prone to a cold streak, especially between now and the end of July (take a look at their schedule).

Randolph was Minaya's fall guy, plain and simple. At least the Mariners realized the problem and cut the problem off at the elbow; the Mets will eventually have to amputate their whole arm, to continue this convoluted analogy.

I see what you did with the whole Manuel/Manual play on words. You clever summagun.

Unless the rails have completely fallen off, I can't think of a good reason to fire any manager during the middle of the season. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Phils overcome an even worse deficit last season to win the division?

And once, just once, I would like to see an owner or GM in pro sports cite a specific reason for firing a manager/coach. Instead of the old cliché of "going in a different direction" or "underachieving"...why don't they say something more detailed like, "we don't agree with Willie's philosophy of managing his pitchers"?

What is it with New York teams and drama? Moreover, what is it with New York teams and stupidity?

I don't care about the Mets but to fire someone at 0300 is beyond classless. Not to mention, the one person that is truly the most responsible is Minaya.

Surely Randolph had it coming, what, with all the bad free agent signings and trades he made. Its a shame he couldnt will his team to stop sucking. Just a ridiculous situation
